In the summer time, native people came to Three Tree Point from their villages. They came by trials that are still used today and canoe, attracted by the freshwater springs and the abundant food source of berries, clams and fish. For them it was a summer retreat, a place to meet friends and to stock up for the winter.

By the 1900's, well-to-do Seattleites started building summer homes on the beaches of Three Tree Point. There was a gereral store as well as a dock, vacation cottages, two pavilion, picnic grounds and the Mosquito Fleet passenger ferry.

During the Prohibiton, Canadian bootleggers used it's darkened docks to smuggle in liquor. Today, the residents remain a hearty, humorous, and colorful group. Three Tree Point offers beachcombing, windsurfing, swimming, waterskiing and jet skiing, kayaking, canoeing, fishing, scuba diving, and sailing. The Point's Fourth of July celebration includes parades by land and sea, activities for the kids fo all ages, and a spectacular fireworks display.

This wonderful story of Three Tree Point is told by Doug Shadel, Pam and Guy Harper in Images of America Three Tree Point. It is a delightful book found in the Bed and Breakfast library and is available for purchase. The author write and we also want to say, "So come on it, pull up a chair, and stay awhile, but be careful -you may never want to leave."

Celebrating spring for over 27 years – the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival annually welcomes hundreds of thousands of visitors from around the world to enjoy the brilliant hues of spring as hundreds of acres of tulips burst into bloom with a veritable rainbow of colors. The festival runs the entire month of April so visitors to the area can see the wonderful blossoms and take in a few other events and activities, ranging from street fairs and art shows to athletic events, including a tulip bike ride, a tulip run and a 110-team basketball tournament.

The Skagit Valley Tulip Festival truly is a community endeavor – thousands of volunteers help – with festival activities in all the corners of the area. One of the signature events of the festival is the Kiwanis Salmon Barbecue, put on entirely by volunteers for 20+ days during April. There is something for everybody including a Garden Art Fair in Anacortes, a Quilt Show and the PACCAR open house. New this year is a Chili, Chowdah and Chocolate Cookoff in Burlington On April 17.

One of the 2010 featured events is the World Tulip Summit, bringing in tulip fans from across the planet for a 3-day symposium. Featured speakers will include Ciscoe Morris, Bill Miller from Cornell University and Nurhan Atasoy from Turkey. Tickets are available for the summit through April 7, 2010.

Granola Cereal Recipe

One of my favorites. Start the day off with the best-granola, bran, raisins, bananas, and yogurt.

1/2 cup natural granola cereal
1/4 cup bran cereal
4 teaspoons sunflower seeds
2 Tablespoons raisins
2 cups vanilla yogurt
1 small banana, peeled and sliced
Pinch of cinnamon
2 Tablespoons honey
Sliced Strawberries (optional)

Combine the cereals, 3 teaspoons of the sunflowers seeds and raisins in a medium-size bowl. Stir well to mix, and them fold in the yogurt. Divide the cereal between two bowls, and top with banana slices. Sprinkle with cinnamon, drizzle with the honey and top with the remaining 1 teaspoon sunflower seeds. Dear Penny and Doug,

What a great little place! Ric asked me last night where I wanted to retire, to which I promptly responded. "HERE!"

The Flowers are beautiful. Stargazer Lillie's are on of my favorites. They were smelling up the whole place by the time we left.

As I started reading one of your Ann Rule books off your bookshelf (one of my favorite authors!), I looked out the windows and wondered if you could see her house from here?! I took you up on the offer and took the book home.

By the way, Ric is *snoring* on the massage table as I write this! One of many moments that has put a smile on my face since we got here yesterday.

Speaking of Ric, it turns out he is an excellent cook! Best toast, scramble eggs and oatmeal I've had!

Everything has been great. The food, the fireplace, flowers,even the yummy rosemary mist soap! I hate leaving.

We will retire the very day our youngest, now only 16 mos old graduates high school. If perhaps around that same time you guys decide to sell this adorable little piece of heaven, please keep our contact information and be sure to find us.

Thank you for the generous "upgrade" to the cottage. It was a much needed break for the two of us to spend time together, without interruption of day to day life.

Salmon Omelet

During your visit to the Pike Place Market pick up some Smoked Salmon, Green Onions, (optional)Fresh Spinach and Parsley, one avocado, and sour cream.

Flake your smoked salmon

Combine 3-4 beaten eggs, finely chopped green onions, finely chopped spinach(optional), little salt and pepper, mix well.

Heat 2 Tablespoons of butter in a medium size skillet.

Pour egg mixture into Skillet and cook until set.

Spoon salmon over half of the omelet, fold omelet in half.

And place on warm plate.

Sprinkle with parsley (optional)

Serve with sour cream and a sliced avocado on the side.

Chris is a rare breed of all-around entertainer, actor and comedian who convincingly makes the theatrical leap from witty clown to the ill-tempered Potter. JIngle Bell Run

This was our first!! We all ran in the Jingle Bell Run.

It was great. The 5K course was real nice. We started at Westlake Mall, ran down 5th Ave, turned and went down the express lanes of I5 and back to the Mall. Everyone was very festive, dressed to celebrate the holiday season. Highly recommend it for the family or individual that wants a fun run.

Yesterday, I went to the Annual SCVB Holiday Breakfast where the Rockettes gave an outstanding performance. A cast and crew of nearly 100 people return to Seattle to deliver a holiday show experience like never before. The Radio City Christmas Spectacular is sure to give audiences holiday memories to last a lifetime. Children of all ages will be enchanted by live holiday entertainment as teddy bears dance, wooden soldiers come to life, reindeer fly, Santa and his elves prepare for their biggest night of the year and the Radio City Rockettes perform their fancy footwork and eye-high kicks.

This is Kristina and I, her parents stayed at our Bed and Breakfast last time the Rockettes where in Seattle.

You will love it!! A very local and cosy Italian restaurant here in Burien. Michael, the owner and chef is busy cooking in the kitchen behind the bar while Dinka, his gorgeous wife will welcome you with a warm smile and an Italian greeting.

Everything is fresh that Michael has pick and prepared that day. I love the seafood dishes, but this last time I went with a Italian rice with wild mushrooms. Wonderful! I try to save myself for some dessert but it is really hard. The Chocolate Walnut Flourless cake or the Michael famous Tiramisu is delightful. Yes, we give the Teatro ZinZanni Show "Beaumount and Caswell" four tumbs up. Last night,we went with the Seattle Bed and Breakfast Association to the amazing show and dinner. It was a 3 hour whirlwind performance. A funny plot about a couple's on/off relationship, the show includes amazing Acrobatic displays that left us in total awe. A night we will all remember.

The 5 course dinner by Tom Douglas was superb featuring an appetizer, creamy butternut squash, spinach salad and your choice of Beef Tenderloin, Arctic Char and Mushroom Strata. Then to finish off the dinner was a Chocolate Orange Creme Mousse with a White Chocolate TZ Wand.

Watch out, there is some audience participation. Don't let it concern you, they only pick the people who love to get up in front of everyone. Ha! Ha! Ha! The show is very up close and personal, right there at or on your table. Dress up and enjoy the evening. It is the hottest ticket in town. http://www.zinzanni.org

Healthy Fall Treat - Pumpkin Smoothie
Pumpkins are an amazing Supper Food, because the powerful antioxidants known as carotenoids give this food its super status. Carotenoids have the ability to ward off the risk of various types of cancer and heart disease, along with, cataracts and macular degeneration.

Pumpkin Contains:
- Alpha-carotene
- Beta-carotene
- High Fiber
- Low Calories
- Vitamins C and E
- Potassium
- Magnesium
- Pantothenic acid
- High in Iron

At only 83 calories a cup, a serving of pumpkin gives you more than two times recommended daily dietary intake of alpha-carotene and 100 percent of beta carotene, as well as almost half of the iron requirement.

So now how to make this delicious Pumpkin Smoothie:

1 cup canned Pumpkin
1 cup soy milk
2 Tablespoons maple syrup
1/3 teaspoon nutmeg
2/3 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup ice

Blend everything but the ice until smooth. Add ice and continue blending until thick and creamy. Garnish with some whip cream and a dash of cinnamon (optional).

Welcome to The Tree Three Point Bed and Breakfast blog. Located about 15 minutes from the heart of Seattle. We will be blogging events, things to See and Do, and just fun things about Seattle.

A little about us. I'm Penny and this is my husband Doug and our two girls Braly and Brita. We are the innkeepers of the Three Tree Point Bed and Breakfast. We hope you will visit our B&B while you are in the Northwest. Three Tree Point is the realization of our dreams. We enjoy providing a true "home away from home" experience for our guests. Doug works hard as a CEO for an Ultrasound Company. I was a mechanical engineer at Boeing for 8 years. We had our first little girl, Braly, in 1993 and our dream was to be able to stay home with her. The bed and breakfast has made this possible. Brita, our second daughter, born in 1996. Our family interests includes water and snow skiing. The girls love soccer and we enjoy watching them on the weekend.

You may be welcomed by Christy, our white German Shepard who has a preoccupation with tennis balls. She has been known to accompany guests to the beach (upon request) for a stick throwing / swimming game. There is also Miss Bobbie, our friendly feline companion chosen by our daughter on her second birthday.

My love for what I do insures a personalized experience at Three Tree Point Bed and Breakfast. We continue to strive to improve our services and with fourteen years experience and insights from our guests, we want to guarantee your visit with us is memorable.
